2008 Winterr  Meets, Results and Achievers

2008 NSW Metropolitan SC Championships 28 - 29 June 2008

A fantastic result for the club with 28 PBs swum at this weekends Metrops.  Tom Miller achieved 1st in the  50m Free clocking 22.33s with David Trouville close behind in 3rd place with 22.69s.  Tom also improved on his 100m Free time to swim 48.61s in 3rd place.

There were many impressive PB’s at Metrops.  Brandon Barton took over 6 secs off his 200 Back to qualify for State Age, and Tom Blin took over 4 secs off his 200 Breast in another State Age Qualifying time.  The Piranha squad Butterfly team all posted PB’s in the 100m Fly events, with all qualifying for State Age in this event.

2008 – Telstra Grand Prix 2,    4-6 July  SOPAC

Cranbrook Eastern Edge have followed on from their Australian Olympic Trials success, cementing their position as National contenders in the Relay events achieving 2nd place in both the 200m Free and 200m Medley Relays. 

In the Medley Relay, Cranbrook (Alex Ross, Peter Kerr, Tom Miller, David Trouville) came 2nd to the Olympic A team (Delaney, Rickard, Lauterstein, Brits). The CEE Free Relay team (David Trouville, Christoph Karow, Peter Kerr, Tom Miller) were 2nd in 1:32.60, just beaten by the Olympic A Team (Brits, Callus, Lauterstein, Targett) who set a meet record in 1:29.37.  3rd place in this event went to the Olympic B team (Monk, Murphy, Ffrost, Brodie). 

Alex Ross had a busy few days, achieving Semi and Final positions in all his events, including as a member of the successful 200m Medley Relay team.  Individual Results as follows:

2008 NSW State Age Short Course 8-10 August

Last weekend saw Cranbrook Eastern Edge represented by 15 swimmers.  PB's were plenty:
 
Tom Blin's program included 8 events where he placed 6th in the 50 Free in a PB time of 26.60s.  13y.o Toms 200 Free saw him shave almost 4 sec's off his previous PB placing him 9th.  Ella Basalo also had a huge meet swimming in 7 events and achieving 4 Top 10 placings.  Ella placed 7th in the 50 Free in a time of 30.41s (PB).
 
Brandon Barton had a great swim in his 200 Back qualifying for the NSW State Open.  Brandon took over 4 secs off his previous best time.  The Bernards continued to improve on their PB's with Joshua achieving 2 Top 10 placings. Joshua smashed his 100 Fly by nearly 5 secs.  There were many chasing the Top 10.  Jaiden Basalo PB'd in his 200 Free placing 11th.
 
The Relays always produce PB's and State Age was no different.  In the 15's&U, Brandon had a great lead-off leg in the 400 Free Relay with a 59.19.  All the 12&U relay swimmers produced outstanding swims in their legs with Sheldon Boboff and Dylan Bernard achieving PB's in their lead off swims.
 
All Swimmers had fantastic swims and the Cranbrook Community are very proud of the effort these swimmers have shown at training to achieve State Qualification.  Congratulations to all swimmers

2008  NSW State Open SC Championships - 22-23 August 2008

Cranbrook Eastern Edge was represented by the Senior Squad at the NSW State Open this weekend producing outstanding results including 13 Top 10 placings.
 
CEE placed 2nd in both the 400 Medley Relay (Greg Shein, Peter Kerr, Alex Ross, David Trouville) and the 400 Freestyle Relay (Peter Kerr, Christoph Karow, Alex Ross, David Trouville).
 
David Trouville produced a PB in his 100 Free placing 3rd in a time of 50.58s.  Greg Shein produced 4 PB's and Alex Ross produced 5 PB's in his 6 individual events, which also resulted in Alex achieving 5 Top Ten placings.  Alex had a huge meet also competing as a member of the successful relay teams. 
 
Congratulations to the team.  We look forward to you competing in Melbourne at the 2008 Telstra Australian SC Championships in September.

2008 Telstra Australian Open Short Course Championships 20-24 September 2008

CEE competed at the National Open SC Championships producing over 30 Personal Best swims.  Tom Miller became only the 3rd Australian to take out the double, winning both the 50m and 100m Freestyle sprints.  Toms 50 Free in a time of 21.89 placed him 10th on the Australian SC all time list, whilst his 100m Free in 47.86 gained 7th position on the all time list.  Reece Turner joined Tom in the 100m Free Final placing 8th in a time of 48.85.

The CEE 400m Freestyle Relay team comprising Tom Miller, Alex Ross, Christoph Karow and David Trouville won a Bronze medal with Alex, Chris and David all achieving PB splits on their way to setting a new State Record (3:17.51).
